Learn what a petrographic analysis is, how it is done and its importance for rocky materials, such as Branco Siena Original.
For 15 years we have been offering the Original Siena White to industries and marble shops. The quality of our clear material with light nuances is recognized by architects and interior designers from Espírito Santo and Brazil. And to ensure that our customers are receiving a delicate, resistant and stainless product, we carry out a series of tests on the rock that we extract in our own quarry in the north of Espírito Santo. One of them is petrographic analysis. Do you know what this is? Keep reading and we’ll explain what it is, how it’s done and why it’s important.

WHAT IS PETROGRAPHIC ANALYSIS?
As the name implies, petrographic analysis is a procedure that allows for a very detailed visualization of rocky materials, such as White Siena granite. It is carried out in laboratories and provides information such as mineralogical composition, durability, resistance and water absorption capacity.

HOW IS IT MADE?
Approximately every two years, we send samples of Branco Siena to laboratories. These small pieces, similar to floor coverings but a little thicker, are subjected to heat, time and liquids for hours.

WHAT DOES IT REVEAL?
With the petrographic analysis, it is possible to discover several characteristics of the Original Siena White. The first concerns the mineralogical composition of the material. It is formed by the minerals plagioclase, quartz, alkali feldspar, muscovite and garnet.

It is because of these crystals that Branco Siena has a light color and small dots in beige, brownish and reddish tones. In addition, minerals are also responsible for the delicacy, resistance and durability of Branco Siena.

Last but not least: it is the petrographic analysis that guarantees that only White Siena Original is stainless, that is, it does not show rust marks in contact with water.

In this text, we explain to you what a petrographic analysis is and how it interferes with the quality of Branco Siena.
